How to Craft a Compelling Medical Receptionist Resume?

Start with a Compelling Objective

Writing a professional summary gives you a chance to make a great first impression to the recruiting team. It should be a brief statement that has highlighted qualifications and experience. 

Example:

"Experienced medical receptionist with more than 4 years of administrative and front-desk experience in busy healthcare settings. Skilled in the management of patient appointments, medical records, and ensuring an excellent patient experience. Strong communications skills; previous experience working in high-pressure situations."

These few lines tell the recruiter that you're qualified and ready to perform for the position.

List Your Key Skills

As hiring managers are scanning through resumes with minimal time for this, putting the skills into separate sections will really make them stand out. Use bullets, including technical and soft skills relevant to the position.

Tip: Wherever possible, be able to quantify your experience so others see the impact you've made in your previous roles. For example, if you are able to mention the number of patients you assist or by how much you have enhanced efficiency in an office, then your resume will look more credible.

Put Your Education and Certifications

A medical receptionist won't typically require advanced degrees, but it's still helpful to include all education in your resume. Make sure to include all certifications regarding the healthcare field-for example, medical coding or HIPAA compliance.

Associate's Degree in Healthcare Administration

Tailor Your Resume to Each Application

Although the temptation to use a blanket resume for all positions may be enticing, tailoring your resume for that one job posting may increase your chances at an interview. Read each job description closely and fashion your resume toward those skills and experiences relevant to that specific job posting.

Add a Cover Letter

A cover letter affords you the opportunity to elaborate upon your experience and let everyone in on why you would be perfect for the job. If a job posting doesn't require a cover letter, then sending one can work to set you apart from the competition.
